Earlier, on July 2, the Truong Giang Water Committee activated a level 4 emergency measure to control floods.

According to CGTN , previous sources said that flood control, emergency response and disaster relief are at an important stage, in the context of China entering the main rainy season.

The warning was issued against a backdrop of southern China experiencing rain for more than a month, causing the most severe flooding in decades in many regions.

Unusual and prolonged heavy rains have caused severe damage across southern China, leaving at least 106 people dead or missing, and affecting up to 15 million. Floods have washed away or damaged many houses.

Rainfall is expected to continue in southern China over the weekend.

The Yangtze River reached its first flood peak this year on July 2. The Three Gorges Dam, the world’s largest dam built on the Yangtze River in the area of Hubei Province, opened three floodgates on June 29, the first flood discharge this year, to reduce the impact of flood to the downstream river.
